100% Online Course on the Psychology of Migration

People who migrate face a very difficult process that may affect their personal and professional lives and force them to confront specific circumstances such as migratory grief, culture shock, and even, in some cases, discrimination and racism. To help them cope with this situation, foster their integration into society, and promote their personal and professional development, Migrant Minds is a training program focused on Migration Psychology.

The online course is aimed at both professionals who work with migrant populations (healthcare professionals, staff of social organizations, teachers, etc.) and migrants who want to learn more about their own experiences.

What content will you find in this training?

Through the content we have developed you will be able to discover and understand how migration may affect a person emotionally. Everything that happens to us has a direct impact on our mental health, and migrating undoubtedly takes a heavy physical and emotional toll that must be managed, both by the person experiencing it and by the professionals who care for them.

With Migrant Minds, you'll explore these circumstances from two perspectives:

  • The first perspective focuses on the individual's own perspective, related to identity, motivations and fears when migrating, the psychological burden that may affect the migrant, migratory grief, and return, among others.
  • The second one refers to everything that surrounds and influences the migrant, such as their family, their partner, their work environment, cultural adaptation, and so on.

You can find all the training topics in this table of contents.

What is the course format?

Migrant Minds is a 40-hour, fully online course designed for maximum flexibility. You can access the materials anytime, study at your own pace, and complete the program from anywhere in the world. Our course team is on hand to answer your questions and guide you throughout your learning journey.

Meet the team behind this training

Migrant Minds was firstly developed by three European organizations that work with migrant populations and is supported by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program:

  • Volvemos: A Spanish organization that works to promote the return of migrants to Spain.
  • Babele ODV: Italian organization that promotes the integration of immigrants arriving in Lombardy (Italy).
  • SDI International University of Munich: German university known for its international studies, welcoming students from all over the world.

After conducting in-person training in Spain, Germany, and Italy in 2023, many people expressed interest in taking this course. For this reason, we have adapted the content to a fully online format, so that anyone can participate, regardless of their location or availability.
